A Natural-looking Smile
Dental implants are natural-looking replacement teeth that Dr. Ang surgically attaches to your jaw. This creates a secure bond to keep your implants firmly in place at all times. That’s why dental implants provide exceptional comfort and stability. You can enjoy your favorite foods and you’ll never have to worry about your teeth coming out when you’re with friends.
Dental implants offer a unique combination of benefits that you won’t get with dentures or any other type of restoration. We use a color guide to find the perfect shade so your implants will perfectly match your smile. In fact, they look so natural that your friends probably won’t be able to tell the difference.
Unlike dentures, you won’t ever have to remove your implants for cleaning. Instead, you just brush and floss them every day like your natural teeth. Since dental implants are a permanent part of your smile, they also give you remarkable chewing power.
When a patient loses a tooth, the bone around the empty socket will begin to deteriorate through a natural process called resorption. Dental implants are the only restoration that counteracts the effects of resorption by stimulating jawbone growth. They also make it easier to speak clearly.
Replacing Nonadjacent Missing Teeth
Dental implants can be used to replace one or more missing teeth, or even a whole arch. If you’re looking to replace more than one missing teeth that aren’t next to one another, we can restore your smile with single dental implants.
The implant process begins when you meet with Dr. Ang for a consultation. He’ll examine your teeth using our cone beam imaging system. Then he’ll sit down with you and go over your treatment options. If you and Dr. Ang decide that dental implants are the right option for your smile, we’ll go ahead and begin the process.
During implant surgery, Dr. Ang will attach the implant fixture, the section of the implant that connects to your jawbone. It will take about three to five months for your bones to become fully integrated with the titanium fixture.
Then we can finish the process by attaching the middle section, which is called the abutment, and topping it off with your attractive porcelain crown.
Replacing Adjacent Missing Teeth
If you have a gap in your smile caused by two or more missing adjacent teeth, Dr. Ang may choose to restore your smile with an implant-supported bridge. This is a single restoration that contains prosthetic teeth known as pontics. An implant-supported bridge creates a very secure attachment, allowing you to really chew your food.
The traditional type of dental bridge is held in place by anchoring it to dental crowns that are attached to the teeth at each end of the gap — but this doesn’t provide as much stability as an implant-supported bridge.
Traditional dental bridges also put a strain on the anchor teeth, and this can cause the patient’s gums to become irritated. But an implant-supported bridge enhances the overall health of your smile.
